How To Lose Weight And Keep It Off
Many people have found ways to lose weight, but it isn’t so easy to lose weight and keep it off. This needs a different approach.
You lose weight within a few days of starting many diet programs because the first thing you lose is fluid. The people who promoted the program know this, which is why they guarantee success. But losing fluid does not constitute real weight loss; it is fat you need to lose, not water.
There is only one way to lose fat from your body and prevent it from returning; actually, there are two ways. You must burn more calories than you eat OR you must eat fewer calories than you burn. To put it another way, eat less and move more.
And you do need to eat, so starvation diets don’t work either. Your body just closes down to protect itself when there is not enough food going in. So, the solution is to eat a balanced, good-food diet and be more active every day.
Follow this plan for sustainable weight loss: have 6 smaller meals or snacks in a day, but be careful not to eat more food than normal. Small, regular meals stop you feeling hungry, keep your metabolism rate up and actually make you feel good because you are able to stick to your “diet”.
This is not a complicated diet plan: have protein with every snack and meal (keeps you feeling full). Have loads of vegetables and fruit for vitamins, minerals, protein, good fats and carbohydrate – they are almost a complete food. Have skim dairy, legumes, nuts and seeds (these make great handy snacks). Forget highly-processed foods, and have wholegrain breads and cereals. Of course, fast food and food loaded with fat or sugar are out too.
The body was made for movement and there is no way to lose weight and keep it off, without it. No need to get all sweaty either, unless you enjoy that sort of thing. Swim, walk the dog, play ball with the kids, belly-dance, garden or any activity that makes you breathe harder is exercise, but do some every day.
